LOCAL AREA

There is so much to do locally that you'll be spoilt for choice. Nearby Merdrignac has an outdoor pool with water slide, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and a fabulous park with lake, mini golf and childrens play area. There is a good selection of restaurants, shops and supermarkets.

A few minutes drive from the cottage is the Forest of Hardouinais which has a stunning lake and small lakeside beach, and sailing lessons for the more energetic.

Almost all towns in Brittany hold a weekly outdoor market where you can buy fresh produce from the farmers or locally produced crafts. The markets are an ideal place to watch galettes (buckwheat crepes, usually filled with a savoury filling) and crepes being made, and to sample them too!

Brittany has a huge coastline and varies from rocky bays to huge sweeping expanses of sand. The cottage is ideally situated to reach both the north and south coast quickly and easily. The Pink Granite Coast to the north is absolutely stunning, and fantastic viewed as the sun sets.

The cottage is a short drive from the medieval town of Josselin which has a huge chateau overlooking the river. Kayaks are available to take out on the river, or bikes to cycle along the path alongside the waters edge. Dinan is another beautiful old walled town and is only a short drive from the cottage, whilst slightly further afield is Pontivy.
Rennes, a 40 minute drive from the cottage, is the regional capital of Brittany and offers great shopping, architectural interest and sightseeing.
